If you have the opportunity to sign up for a corporate gym membership, it is something you should seriously look into.
Normally, this means that you work for a large company that is interested in their employees' health enough to offer discounts at a local or national health club or fitness center.
A corporate gym membership is often deeply discounted but has all of the benefits and amenities that a regular fitness center pass would have.
The other type of corporate gym membership is a private center that all employees are allowed to use. Often located on-premises, this type of facility is a huge benefit to most. Not only can they easily use the facilities during their lunch breaks or before or after work but there is no commute and often no fee. If their employer has on-site day-care then they don't have to worry about finding childcare in order to get into shape, or stay that way.
The equipment and amenities are usually top-notch and on par with what you would expect from a well-respected chain. The biggest difference may be a staff- or lack thereof. While a large chain of centers will usually have a large staff including experts and personal trainers, this is not always the case in the private business fitness center world.
There might be nobody to supervise, give advice or spot you so you should take this into consideration before working out there. If you are a beginner or think you need help you should seek it out elsewhere if your employer's private facility does not provide it.
No matter which type you are offered, you should look into it and take advantage if the price and/or location are right for you.
