NFPT

One of the more popular fitness certifications out there is the NFPT. This stands for the National Certification of Professional Trainers and is a highly recognized title.

Preparing to take a NFPT is very convenient as they offer more than 300 different locations where you can write your exam across the United States. Along with personal training, the NFPT also offers certifications for a Nutritional Specialist, Weight Training Specialist and an Endurance Training Specialist.

To prepare to take your exam with the NFPT, you can either choose to do a home study course, courses at university that will qualify or a practical workshop course. This makes it much easier to tailor studying to your learning preference and current timetable.

The exam to obtain this certification will contain 15% human anatomy, 20% human physiology, 25% exercise physiology, 25% how to identify and meet clients goals, 10% dedicated towards understanding the characteristics of wellness and finally 5% on legal and professional practices. It is a very all-inclusive course that will definitely prepare you to become a proficient personal trainer.

The certification itself costs $425.00 and you must renew it on an annual basis for a fee of $75.

Additionally, with this renew fee cost you automatically qualify to take continuing education credits (CEC's) to help further expand upon your current knowledge and make you a better trainer. You must do 2 of these courses each year in order to renew and can choose from a variety of topics.

All in all, if you are looking to become a certified personal trainer this is a very good organizing body to look into. It is highly recognized amongst the gyms so you will not need to worry about not meeting their qualifications. Not only is it a great choice for your career, but also for personal knowledge and development.
