Stress Relief

One of the best things about exercise is the stress relief that it provides. As we become busier and busier in our everyday lives, few of us take the time to do activities that give us the stress relief we need.

If you are not doing this, these feelings will eventually build up and that is when you will see significant problems such as depression or career burnout taking place.

In order to get the full benefits of stress relief you need to be working out at a fairly high intensity to release neurotransmitters in your body called endorphins. These are natural energy boosters that help you feel good, reduce pain and increase energy levels. For those of you who have heard of something called 'the runners high', this is what they are referring to.

After running for a certain period of time the body starts releasing these and you experience a euphoric feeling.

Weight training is also an excellent way to accomplish this goal as many people use lifting heavy weights to get their frustrations out. If you can channel this energy into your workout you will see great improvements in your physical condition as well.

On the other end of the scale, you can take a different approach and perform exercise that is very relaxing in nature. Good examples here would be yoga or basic stretching. Light a few candles and turn on some nature music to heighten the effect. While these will not push your physical boundaries to quite the degree as the former does, there are many benefits that come along with increased flexibility and range of motion such as a decreased chance of injury.

Regardless of how you look at it, exercise is simply one of the best things you can do for both your physical and mental health. Making it a priority in your life is something that is of critical importance and should be done on a daily basis. If you do then you will notice positive changes in your life happening very quickly.
